Song Licenses
All of Susan’s original songs are available for licensing. Licensing is required anytime you use Susan’s music for mechanical, synchronization, and Master Use. Below is an explanation of each!
Types of Licenses
Mechanical
“A mechanical license is an agreement between a music user and the owner of a copyrighted composition (song), that grants permission to release the song in an audio-only format (interactive audio streams, digital downloads, CDs, vinyl). This permission is also called mechanical rights.”
Synchronization
“A music synchronization license, or "sync" for short, is a music license granted by the holder of the copyright of a particular composition, allowing the licensee to synchronize music with some kind of visual media output.”
Master Use
“A master license is an agreement between a music user and the owner of a copyrighted sound recording that grants permission to use the sound recording. This permission is also called a master lease or master rights.”
Why Licensing is Important to Susan
Hi! Susan here! Licensing is a really important tool for independent artists to get paid for their work, and as someone who has been writing and recording original music for more than 30 years, I can speak to its value! Licensing is how I know my work is being used around the world and it’s how I get paid! I believe all artists deserve to be paid for their work and licensing is just one small piece of that. If you want to use my music, that’s great!
